The Occupational Health Surveillance Program within the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS), Bureau of Environmental and Occupational Health (BEOH) was recently awarded a CDC-NIOSH grant to conduct basic occupational surveillance for five years. To assist in accomplishing the goals of the grant they will be assembling an advisory group beginning in September, and John Pfister has been invited to participate. The goals of the advisory group are to 1) strengthen relationships and collaboration of Occupational Health stakeholders, 2) share surveillance data with those who can use it and make an impact, and 3) discuss occupational health issues important to the state. Improved surveillance is essential for monitoring and improving the health and safety of Wisconsin’s workers, so It will be important for this group to succeed.
